While the Central Theatre marquee is hard to read behind the oncoming streetcar
headed up Highland Avenue, it appears to be for Errol Flynn and Fred
MacMurray in an early technicolor film called “Dive Bomber.” Released by
Warner Brothers in 1941, it was part of a move to gain public support for the arms
build-up that would soon be needed as the country edged ever-closer to war.
